
Born in Boston, USA in 1969, she is of half Chinese descent. An installation artist, she graduated from Yale University with a degree in painting and earned a master's degree from the School of Visual Arts in New York. She is a professor at the Columbia University School of the Arts and currently lives and works in New York. She is renowned for her site-specific installations created using everyday objects such as toothpicks, sponges, light bulbs, and plastic bottles. She began to gain recognition in the art world in the early 1990s, and since then, her works have frequently been showcased in major art institutions and biennales around the world.
