Zio Ziegler is a contemporary American artist known for his distinctive painting style and diverse creative practice.Born in Mill Valley, California, USA in 1988, he currently works and lives in California. Graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and Brown University, earning a degree in Art in 2010.His works blend figurative and abstract elements, influenced by Italian Futurism and Cubism, while also drawing on the visual language of artists such as Francis Bacon and Kazimir Malevich.He primarily uses oil sticks, often mixing raw pigments with materials like sand, soil, and pumice to create unique textures.His work focuses on themes of human vulnerability and existentialism, using painting as a means of self-exploration. His pieces often incorporate surreal elements such as skulls, bones, flowers, and birds, conveying his personal interpretation of the world.Held a solo exhibition, The Fourth Wall, at the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art in California (2018). In 2015, he created a mural to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the United Nations.
